We use solid basswood for all our wood shutters. Contrary to some false claims, wood shutters do not peel, warp or fade, and our lifetime warranty covers these types of issues in manufacturing or finish defects. In fact they are very durable, long-lasting, easy to clean, can be easily re-finished years from now. We have installed wood shutters in humid areas as well as the hot desert without any problems. The only place that wood shutters would not be recommended would be over a water source. As with any wood product, exposure to water can cause damage.

Every stile and rail is joined by a minimum of three dowels.  Extra-long gauge that is heavy are used in the louvers and tilt rod to insure they do not pull out with normal wear and tear.  Each staple is coated with friction-activated glue that heats up when the staple is injected into the wood.  All panel connections are rabbeted to prevent light leaking where panels meet. All wood shutters come with a tension screw adjuster to tighten or loosen easily the louvers as needed.

If your painted shutters need cleaning to remove any spots you can use a damp cloth with Simple Green or any other non-toxic biodegradable cleaner sprayed on a cloth that is damp.  Cleaning your painted or stained wood shutters you can use a duster that is feather Swiffer type cloth or carefully vacuum with a brush attachment. For stained shutters, you can use a amount that is moderate of oil such as Murphy’s applied to a cloth to clean them.  You especially want to use furniture oil on your stained shutters if they are exposed to sunlight.  Always make sure the shutters are thoroughly dry after they are cleaned.  Never use any chemicals that are harmful as Windex or other household cleaners that will harm the finish.  With proper care your shutters will give you years of comfort and beauty.
